Four drug peddlers held with contraband substance: Police | KNO

Srinagar, Dec 09 (KNO): Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Jammu and Kashmir Police have arrested four drug peddlers in Baramulla & Awantipora and recovered contraband substance from their possession. According to a statement issued to the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), in Baramulla, a police party under the close supervision of SSP Baramulla, Addl. SP HQ Baramulla and SHO PS Baramulla carried out a targeted operation near GMC Baramulla Parking area. During the operation, the team intercepted two suspicious individuals identified as Tahir Ahmad Khan, Son of Amar Zaman Khan, and a lady, both residents of Trikanjan, Boniyar. During their personal search, police recovered a total of 964 grams of heroin-like substance, packed in two packets weighing 424 grams and 540 grams respectively. The contraband is valued at approximately Rs 1 crore in the illegal market. Additionally, two mobile phones and one vehicle (Tata Punch, Registration No. JK05L-7844) were seized from their possession. Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 214/2025 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Baramulla and further investigation is underway, the police statement reads. In Awantipora, a police party of Police Station Pampore, headed by SHO PS Pampore, during naka checking at Kadlabal Pampore Chowk, intercepted a vehicle (KUV 100 NXT K2 (Black)) bearing registration number JK04F-4498 with two persons on board. During search, 37.740 Kgs of poppy straw (Fuki) was recovered from their possession. Both the accused identified as Jehangir Ahmad Dar, son of Ab Rashid Dar, resident of Kandour Khansahab, Budgam; and Mushtaq Ahmad Dar, son of Ab Razaq Dar, resident of Palpora, Budgam have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized. Accordingly, a case FIR No. 127/2025 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Pampore, and further investigation has been initiated. J&K Police reiterates its unwavering commitment to eradicating drug trafficking from the society and appeals to the public to extend cooperation by sharing information related to drug abuse or peddling in their areas, the statement further reads—(KNO)
